“Final Statement”
“Experience is the best teacher”
Nowadays, students are very
curious, they want to explore
If students accomplish the task,
they give motivation to do it again
“If they think that they can do
it via hands-on and they experience it
They will repeat and apply in
real life. It serve as their hobby and help them
Financially and students have SELF-FULFILLMENT.

“ANALYSIS”
|
Authentic assessment is
a form of assessment which students asked to perform real life task that
demonstrate meaningful and engaging application of knowledge and competencies
that gives direct evidence and it draws firsthand experience wherein students
learn by doing.
|
“Performance and product are the highest assessment can produce authentic learning for students which its real life application of understanding as evidence by the students’ performance of authentic task”.
2.
How
was authentic assessment used? Was it used to measure learning through the
product?
Teacher
asked her students to demonstrate skills and competencies. Both process and
product were used to measure learning, not only the actual output or product
alone. It should be both because they are connected to each other but always
depends on the learning competencies align for her students.
1.
What are your insights and feelings
about the use of authentic assessment?
“Experience is the best
teacher”, it emphasizes on real world application that favours realistic
performance over out of context drill items. It requires students to generate
rather than choose a response and actively accomplish complex tasks while
bringing to bear prior knowledge new learning and relevant skills. Students
should give opportunities to learn by doing and immerse in the world of
experience. Authentic assessment draws a meaning from their first hand
experience/ direct experience their level of thinking. Using authentic
assessment is significant to be developed because both teachers and students
will be benefited. Teacher determines whether his/her students can apply their
knowledge through application, the ability to monitor and provide feedback and
coaching regularly is also important. It is effective to use authentic
assessment because not only students’ acquiring information but they also apply
and use in real-life situation.
2.
Describe how the teacher used the
authentic assessment?
Teacher
used authentic assessment through performance-based assessment (e.g. process
and product). In process, teacher asked students to demonstrate understanding,
skills or proficiency by performing a more complex task usually representative
of more meaningful application. In product, teacher asked students to analyze,
synthesize and apply what they had learned in a substantial manner by creating
or producing output or product that corresponds to the learning competencies.
Teacher identifies first the competency that has to be demonstrated by students
with or without a product, teacher also describes the task to be performed and
introduces the scoring rubrics reflecting the criteria, level of performance
and score in order to be fair and avoid biases.
3.
How did you feel about the
teacher’s experience in the use of authentic assessment?

4.
What could be gains of the students
and teachers in using authentic assessment?
Students
gain enjoyment while they do the task in hands-on or application using their
knowledge or students learn by doing. Each student acquires knowledge, deep
understanding, attitudes, enhances skills and proficiency such as
problem-solving skills and social skills. It also reflects students’ learning
achievement and gain motivation on instructionally relevant activities; it
allows a greater expression of students’ ability, develops self-confidence and
self-fulfilment; helps students rehearse for the complex ambiguities of adult
and professional life. In T.L.E, students gain skills and help them financially
via authentic assessment-if they know the process, do in actual performance
then produce a product that can promote to the market.
In
teachers’ part, she gains closure and convenience to her students through doing
her role in assisting them. She also gains set of information that will guide
her to know what students are bringing into learning situation, to have basis
in planning for relevant instruction via information.
5.
Which part of the teacher’s use of
authentic assessment do you feel like improving or revising?
Instead
of discussing the lesson and let students to draw a sample of kitchen lay-out,
teacher may also asked her students to present their output orally in order to
have participation also in illustrating their concepts. Teacher should always
assist students’ performance while performing job to be more active and
monitored. Teacher should always provide feedback and coaching.
